I have been teaching English language since I graduated university. This means thirteen years spent in the school among my learners who have Hungarian as their mother tongue. As other language learners, many of my students also tend to believe that producing English consists of the process of matching the meaning in their language with an English word. Consequently, I came to the conclusion that I have to pay more attention to the chunking aspect of the English language so that my learners would not construct expressions translating Hungarian word for word. Rather, they should have a large stock of ready-made chunks at their disposal to access when they need them.
