This present paper started from my growing interest as regards (1) children‘s literacy and interests during a dark era of universal history, Nazi Germany, and (2) the curative power that literacy can have upon a teenager. In order to illustrate as well as possible this issue, I chose to operate with Markus Zusak‘s novel, The Book Thief. This ―masterfully told‖ novel proved to be more than a story about the power of words and it‘s the excellent example of words‘ power in the hands of someone who knows how to make them right.
