In this paper, coordinated by conf. dr. Isabela Merilă, I decided to write about The American Dream in Fitzgerald’s work and I will focus mainly on the novel “The Great Gatsby”, which synthesizes Fitzgerald`s most important themes: money, love, class differences, leisure, consumerism, etc. I have chosen this subject because Fitzgerald created a chronicle of America from 1920 and I want to emphasize the dissonance between reality and the American Dream, an artificial image created in this period of change, given by industry and production.
