This is why students need to become aware that communicating in English is no longer a simple ability, but a necessity.

In this context, teachers need to help students develop their communicative competences in English by using strategies and methods that make learning attractive and motivating. One way of doing this is to use drama techniques in the process of teaching/learning because they facilitate the use of English in a social context and aim to reproduce communicative situations as similar as possible to real-life ones. It has also been observed that drama activities help to develop creativity, imagination and cooperative learning.
It is our strong belief that drama techniques should be used more by both the authors of English language textbooks and by teachers who need a new approach to teach English.
This study aspires to explore the role of drama in enhancing the communicative skills of the students who study English as a second language. It aims to show the advantages and disadvantages of using it and to present a practical proposal that should be seen as a recommendation for its application in the classroom.
