Before being pure, united art, cinemais an odd synthesis of arts and mostly a social phenomenon. A good movie educates like a valuable poem, gives intellectual pleasure and satisfaction. To the old poem of words the seventh art brought the poem of things, of decisions and of circumstances. It is a new poem and very adequate with the stirred times we live. The human has never felt stronger the need to break the mask that things, acts and actions of our neighbors so often wear, to break it from the face of occurrences and to read the truth, to decipher life putting order into the many ideas that come in our mind at each moment that, I name, an instant of beauty and truth that cinema offers us.

It is the same mechanism as in the poem. The true sense of words once discovered, we dress it in thousands of thoughts that spring out and which cover the facts from outside with truths found inside. It is the poem of things; it is the poem of guessing.
Suchianu asserted that ‘literature and especially the poem and the film which are still a literary form give us the chance to find the light, that is to find out that everything that we believed in until then was wrong, but we escaped this misfortune’. This is exactly what Jane Campion did when she found herself in the heroine, and she transposed trough her, the ideas and feelings of every woman.
‘In a good movie, said Suchianu, there are key-moments’ and this thing is demonstrated in ‘The Portrait of a Lady’ opening scene trough the exposition of the thoughts and fantasies of the heroine.
These key-moments from the movie become for the spectator a sort of support within which the receiver penetrates the secrets of creation, in its labyrinth without getting lost, having the revelation of knowledge given by the director.
It can be seen as a momentary solution or a sort of escape from reading, one could find out what happens in a novel in approximately two hours without consuming three days. But the movie is in fact resumption and a modernization of literature and in my opinion film could become a subject of a university course for philology.
