In order to exemplify the issues regarding the pre-modernist and modernist writers I have chosen these three books: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Women in Love by D.H. Lawrence and Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, each of them presenting the female being in different and totally distinct situations. All my female protagonists are interesting in their own way. They have different characters, they are surprising and they each teach us a certain lesson. What`s the most important regarding each of them is the fact that they manage to make themselves unforgettable. Their main features are: feminism, intelligence, ambition, beauty of the mind and soul, determination. They have the power to say what they have in their minds time`s social conventions.
