One important aspect that needs to be taken into consideration is represented by the major changes which have also appeared in the educational system and had a gradual impact on students’ motivation, learning and interests. Nowadays, teachers have vast opportunities in terms of teaching methods, classroom layouts, visual and interactive aids. With this flexibility in teaching, we also have access to a great amount of ideas to incorporate into our classrooms. That is why we should adapt our teaching methods and techniques to the actual circumstances in order to provide the education tailored to students’ specific needs.
Another important aspect considered when deciding to do the experiment was my students’ attitude toward technology and internet. To optimize student engagement and learning, we must continuously analyse and refine our teaching methods.
Considering this context I decided to focus on using technology and digital material in the English class . One tool that made me take this decision was the interactive whiteboards which is the newest technical equipment that our school obtained and my students’ attitude and implication when I first used an interactive worksheet. I managed to motivate them and thus I wanted to see if new and modern technology could have an impact on teaching English and on students’ learning, especially on vocabulary development and retention.
