Generally speaking, slang is representative for the spoken language. In spoken language, people normally utter words used in everyday conversation, which concern the common things of life.

From the point of view of cultural levels of the language, slang can be included on its lower levels, together with its local dialects, illiterate speech and colloquial speech. It has always been rather hard to define slang, even if almost everybody can identify it in speech, because slang, colloquialisms, provincialisms, jargon are overlapping categories that are also very hard to distinguish.
