As a student of English and German Language and Literature I’ve noticed that many students are familiar with many theories on language; they know rules about different grammatical, phonological topics. In most cases the student can also successfully apply these rules and use them in speaking and writing. I tried to look closer and examine which fields are not entirely covered by the student’s knowledge, and I found out that the way words are formed in English, the processes words go through can help any learner of language acquire more vocabulary as these processes are very productive, and they can also learn how to spell words as many share the same patterns. Another important field in a language are the fixed phrases. My intention is to identify and classify fixed phrases so that students and learners can easily learn these expressions and use them as often as possible. .
